Will it work with my EV?

Yes. Every Terra AC charges through Type 2, either a socket or a tethered cable. That covers every EV officially sold in Malaysia.

Your actual charging speed will depend on the lower of two limits: the charger’s rating and your car’s onboard AC charger (many EVs cap AC charging at 7 kW or 11 kW, so a 22 kW wallbox won’t push them any faster).

Will it work with my home?

Most landed homes here are on single-phase, so the 7.4 kW Terra AC (32 A) is the one to get.

Installing the 11 kW or 22 kW version requires a three-phase electrical supply. Having three-phase isn’t the end of it. Your installer still has to check there’s spare capacity once the aircons and water heater are counted.

Charging Speed & Overnight Time

On single-phase, a 7.4 kW unit adds roughly 35 to 40 km of range per hour. Plug in after dinner and most cars are full by morning.

Faster only counts if your car and your DB can both take it. For daily driving, 7.4 kW overnight is plenty.

Power Rating Est. Speed (km/hr) 0–100% (60 kWh Battery)
7.4 kW (Single-phase) ~35–40 km/hr ~8–9 hrs
11 kW (Three-phase) ~55–60 km/hr ~5–6 hrs
22 kW (Three-phase) ~110–120 km/hr ~3 hrs

Installation & Safety

A good charger badly wired is still a bad charger. For the ABB Terra AC, a proper job includes:

  • A dedicated EV circuit originating from your distribution board (DB).
  • Cable sized for hours at full load. A 32 A charger runs flat out all night, so undersized wire will cook.
  • Proper earthing and surge/circuit protection.
  • A load check before anything is drilled, so you know your supply can carry it.
  • Full testing and compliance with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (Energy Commission) EVCS guidelines.
  • Assistance with TNB application (if supply upgrades are needed).

Smart Features

  • Scheduled charging: through the ChargerSync app
  • Energy tracking: per-session kWh in app and portal
  • Start options: app, RFID card or free vending
  • Adjustable current: 6 A to 32 A, rotary switch or app
  • OCPP 1.6J: for a CPO or condo billing system

Dynamic Load Balancing

Add an energy meter on your main supply, wired to the Terra AC over RS485, and it cuts charging current when the house is drawing a lot. Without the meter, the installer just caps current at a fixed level.

Cable & Everyday Convenience

Cable versions come with a 5m Type 2 lead that wraps around the charger body. Socket versions have no cable, so you plug in your own, which is handy if two cars with different port positions share the porch.

Weather & Durability

IP54 and IK10. The shell is tough, but IP54 only covers splashes. For an open porch, mount it under the roof edge, away from afternoon sun.

App User Experience

Owners use the ChargerSync app on iOS and Android, over Bluetooth or the cloud. Installers set it up with TerraConfig. The app is plain but does scheduling, current limits and history.

Frequently Asked Questions

Only the 22 kW model, and only on three-phase with spare capacity. On single-phase it stops at 7.4 kW.

Yes. It charges through Type 2, the standard on every EV sold in Malaysia. Real speed is the lower of the charger rating and your car's onboard AC charger, usually 7 to 11 kW.

Most terrace and semi-D homes are single-phase, which tops out at 7.4 kW. Three-phase is more common in bigger or newer homes. Your TNB meter or installer can tell you.

At 7.4 kW, about 35 to 40 km of range per hour. A 60 kWh battery goes from 20% to 80% in roughly 5 hours.

JusEV lists the 7.4 kW socket at RM4,410.92, the 7.4 kW cable with RFID at RM5,572.58 and the 22 kW socket at RM5,092.43. Eleco lists a 7.4 kW socket at RM5,299. Installation is extra, so get two quotes.

It's IP54 with an IK10 shell. Splashes and knocks are fine, heavy rain is not. Mount it under the porch roof.

ABB's standard warranty is 24 months. Extensions to 3 or 5 years are sold separately. Workmanship warranty comes from your installer.
