TL;DR: Walau eh, Malaysia’s first Autel DS600L DC fast charger is now running at Zone F, Johor Premium Outlets (JPO) in Kulai, operated by DC Handal. The 600kW EV charger shares its power dynamically across four CCS charging points, so four cars can charge at the same time. Outlets 1 and 2 are rated up to 600kW each, while outlets 3 and 4 are rated up to 480kW each. The speed you get depends on your car, and most EVs sold in Malaysia accept far less than 600kW.

JPO is already a popular charging stop off the North-South Expressway, mostly because it gives you somewhere to shop or eat while the car tops up. Now it has a single Autel unit that can feed four cars at once, with up to 600kW on tap.

Autel Energy announced the installation on X on 20 October 2026, describing the MaxiCharger DS600L Liquid-Cooled System at JPO as the solution’s first deployment in Malaysia. So what does 600kW mean for you, and is it worth planning a stop around? Short answer below each heading.

What’s new at Johor Premium Outlets?

DC Handal has added an Autel DS600L DC fast charger in the Zone F carpark at Johor Premium Outlets. It has four CCS charging points (CCS2 is the DC fast-charging plug used by EVs in Malaysia), and all four can be used at the same time.

DC Handal already had chargers at JPO before this, and ChargEV also has 32 DC charge points at the mall, priced at RM1.50 per kWh, so there are plenty of options if one bay is taken.

How does a 600kW charger share power across four cars?

The DS600L has 600kW of total capacity that it splits between whichever outlets are in use. That’s what “dynamic sharing” means: one car alone can pull a lot, and when more cars plug in, the power gets divided between them.

So the 600kW and 480kW figures are the most each outlet can deliver, not what every car gets when all four bays are full. If four cars are charging at once, they’re sharing that same 600kW pool.

Outlet Max output (per outlet)
Outlet 1 Up to 600kW
Outlet 2 Up to 600kW
Outlet 3 Up to 480kW
Outlet 4 Up to 480kW
Whole unit 600kW total, shared

Why does cooling matter? Pushing very high current through a cable makes it hot. Autel calls the DS600L a liquid-cooled system. A liquid-cooled cable runs coolant through it so it can carry high current while staying thin enough to handle.

Will your EV actually charge at 600kW?

Probably not, and that’s fine. Your car decides how much power it accepts, not the charger. Every EV has a maximum DC charging rate, and most models sold in Malaysia sit well below 600kW.

Plugging a car into a bigger charger won’t make it charge faster than its own limit. What a high-capacity unit does give you is headroom: your car is less likely to be slowed down because the charger is busy feeding three other cars. Your car’s spec sheet or manual lists its peak DC charging rate, so check that before you get too excited.

For perspective, a home wallbox on a typical single-phase Malaysian house tops out at 7.4kW. Public ultra-fast chargers like this one are for road trips and quick top-ups, not daily charging.

How much does it cost to charge at the JPO 600kW charger?

Autel’s announcement doesn’t mention pricing, so check the DC Handal app or the charger screen before you plug in. DC Handal’s JPO listing on PlugShare shows RM1.30 per kWh for DC charging and RM0.90 per kWh for AC.

You don’t need an app to start a session. You can tap a credit or debit card at the terminal, pay with a Touch ‘n Go eWallet QR code, or start charging through ChargEV, JomCharge or Gentari Go.

Where is the charger at Johor Premium Outlets?

The DC Handal chargers are in the Zone E and Zone F carpark. The new Autel unit is in Zone F.

Address: Inside Johor Premium Outlets, 81400, Johor Darul Ta’zim, Malaysia

DC Handal’s JPO listing on PlugShare. It still shows the older 320kW figure, so treat it as a guide to the site rather than the new charger.

Is it worth a stop?

If you’re driving between KL and Johor Bahru or heading to Singapore, yes lah, JPO makes sense as a charging break. Four high-power points in one spot means less queueing, and you’ve got food and shops while you wait.

Don’t expect your car to hit 600kW, though. Expect it to charge at whatever its own peak is, with less chance of being throttled when the site is busy.

FAQ

Where is the 600kW EV charger at Johor Premium Outlets?

It’s in the Zone F carpark at Johor Premium Outlets in Kulai, Johor. The unit is an Autel DS600L operated by DC Handal, with four DC charging points.

Can my EV charge at 600kW?

Only if your car supports it, and most EVs sold in Malaysia don’t. The car sets the maximum charging rate, so check its peak DC charging figure in the spec sheet.

How much does DC Handal charge per kWh at JPO?

DC Handal’s PlugShare listing shows RM1.30 per kWh for DC and RM0.90 per kWh for AC. Confirm the current rate on the charger screen or in the DC Handal app before charging.

Do I need an app to use DC Handal chargers?

No. You can pay by tapping a credit or debit card or by scanning a Touch ‘n Go eWallet QR code, and the chargers also work through ChargEV, JomCharge and Gentari Go.

What plug does the JPO 600kW charger use?

All four outlets are CCS, the DC fast-charging standard used in Malaysia (CCS2). For slower AC charging at home, Malaysian EVs use the Type 2 connector.

Thinking about home charging too? Public ultra-fast chargers are handy on trips, but most charging happens at home. Compare home chargers side by side on our charger comparison, or find a verified ST-registered installer in our installer directory.
