TL;DR: Worldwide Holdings Bhd (WHB) and EV Connection Sdn Bhd, the company behind JomCharge, exchanged MoU documents on 14 October 2026 to explore deploying at least 1,000 EV charging stations across Selangor within 24 months. JomCharge would fund and install the chargers, and WHB would coordinate the rollout. No locations, charger speeds, prices or investment value have been announced yet.

Selangor EV drivers, this one’s for you lah. The JomCharge Selangor plan is big: Worldwide Holdings Bhd (WHB) and JomCharge want to put at least 1,000 new EV chargers across Selangor within two years. Big number. But is it confirm plus chop? Not yet, because what they signed is an MoU, and a lot of the details you’d care about are still missing.

EV Charge Malaysia, an independent EV-charging comparison site for Malaysia, went through what’s been announced so far. The story was first reported by Business Today on 15 October 2026, and SoyaCincau, Wiser and Amanz have since reported the same details.

What did WHB and JomCharge agree to?

They signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore rolling out at least 1,000 EV charging stations in Selangor within 24 months. Think of an MoU as a handshake on paper. Both sides agree to work on something together, but nobody’s tied to a final contract yet, so 1,000 is a target and not a promise.

Who does what? JomCharge, run by EV Connection Sdn Bhd, would put in the money and install the chargers. WHB, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PKNS, is Selangor’s strategic programme manager for EV charging infrastructure, so its job is to coordinate the rollout around the state.

The documents were swapped on 14 October 2026 at the opening of the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah and Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari witnessed the exchange.

How does the JomCharge Selangor deal fit the state’s EV charging target?

Selangor is aiming for 4,000 EV charging stations by 2030. If this deal delivers in full, it covers a quarter of that by itself. Not bad for one partnership. The target falls under the Selangor Agenda for Green Economy (SAGE), the state’s plan to get more people driving EVs and cut transport emissions.

WHB Group CEO Ahmad Zaki Ahmad Zainuddin said the partnership “provides a good start towards wider execution of this programme”. He added that WHB will keep bringing in more investors and partners to reach 4,000.

On JomCharge’s side, managing director Lee Yuen How said Selangor remains an important market for electric mobility, and that the company is pleased to support the state’s aspirations through the collaboration with WHB.

What do we know about the Selangor charger rollout so far?

Only the headline numbers and who’s responsible for what. The stuff that matters to you as a driver hasn’t been shared.

What does this mean for EV drivers in Selangor?

For now, very little changes. You don’t know where the chargers will go. Or how fast they’ll be, whether slower AC units or quicker DC ones. Or what you’ll pay per kWh. Until that’s out, don’t plan your next car around a JomCharge station showing up near your condo.

Living in a landed home? Then a home charger (often called a wallbox) will probably stay your everyday option anyway. Curious how home charging stacks up against petrol? Our EV charging cost vs petrol guide breaks it down, and you can plug in your own numbers with the EV charging cost calculator.

JomCharge is an EV charging brand operated by EV Connection Sdn Bhd. It runs public charging points in Malaysia and is the partner that would fund and install the 1,000 Selangor chargers under this MoU.

When will the 1,000 JomCharge chargers in Selangor be ready?

The MoU sets a target of within 24 months. No phase-by-phase schedule has been shared, so treat that as a goal rather than a fixed date.

Where will the new EV chargers in Selangor be located?

No sites have been announced yet. Locations will probably come out once the two companies move past the MoU stage.

How many EV charging stations does Selangor want by 2030?

Selangor is targeting 4,000 EV charging stations by 2030 under the Selangor Agenda for Green Economy (SAGE). The WHB and JomCharge deal would contribute at least 1,000 of those.
